Patch 3.2.0a

Yes this is kind of a prot/holy pally
QQ thread. This whole problem would be fixed by making divine plea
dispellable in the prot tree. Why in gods name do PROT PALADINS
need an un-dispellable divine plea? Is there going to be a boss in
the near future that we don't know about that that is going to
dispell all your buffs?
This would be the easiest fix in the world, but instead blizzard
allows prot/holy pallies to go untouched for yet another
season.

Q u o t e:
Why? It's an explicit design goal that prot and ret should be able
to heal (albeit not as effectively as holy) when wearing healing
gear. In fights where only 1 tank is needed, a prot can either put
on ret gear and dps or holy gear and heal. Either should be viable.
This has been confirmed as the dev's goal. The same applies for
pvp. The problems start when the healing is comparable to
holy.
Fun fact--no one takes prot/holy to arenas for the
"over-the-top" healing--its for the
utility/survivability + adequate healing. Thus the incoming
nerfs--by toning down the healing (and nerfing HoJ), the spec is
reduced in power without being removed completely.
I'll say it again for those who haven't gotten the clue
yet--PALADINS are a HEALING-CAPABLE CLASS. ALL SPECS should be able
to heal at least adequately in appropriate gear.
Drudi makes good points, but another factor is that we don't want
to keep going to dispels as the ultimate counter for everything
when we think dispelling is probably already too dominant in
PvP.

Q u o t e:
Spam dispelling maybe.
Being able to quickly react with dispels is a skill-factor that you
should not completely remove, however.
The difference between a 1500 player and a 2600 player is that the
1500 player may need to be asked twice before he reacts to dispel a
debuff/CC, while a 2600 player can spot and remove it before the
other person can even say something in vent about it.
edit: also if you wanted to move the game away from spam dispels
but leave in on-the-spot dispels, then you're going to need to do
something with spammable junk debuffs as well.
We don't want to get rid of dispelling. That would actually be an
easy (if far-reaching) change. We just don't want, in this case,
the only realistic way to counter a paladin healer to be to dispel
Divine Plea. That just means if you don't have a dispeller, you
can't counter the dude.
Knowing when and what to dispel is, we think, a cool part of PvP.
But those dispels need to be real choices and you shouldn't be
totally helpless without them (or else everyone needs them).
